The “Kung Fu Zombies vs Cannibals” soundtrack album is coming and it is packed with some of Lao horror playwright Saymoukda Vongsay’s favorite local and national artists! Help bring the album to life by giving any amount you can so that they can fairly compensate these artists for their contribution.

Among the artists currently scheduled for inclusion are: Desdamona, Truthmaze, Mayda Miller, Beasely, Big Wiz, Fres Thao, Tony Bones, St. Paul Slim, Franz Diego, Tall Paul, $kywalker/Groundrunner, Dark Monk, Ken C, Halphduzin, Jason Anxious, Manny Phesto, G Malicious, and Reefa Rei. The physical copy of the soundtrack will feature original cover art by visual artist Amina Harper.

They’re asking for help to reach $3,500 by the end of the month! Their crowdfunding campaign is taking place over at: http://gogetfunding.com/project/kung-fu-zombies-vs-cannibals-soundtrack-album

As you can guess by the title, the premise is that modern civilization has collapsed beyond recognition and the earth is littered by zombies and cannibals. Two women from opposite ends of the world will kill their way to salvation. Maybe. Framed under the Five Buddhist tenets, their journey is told through an amalgamation of severed heads, forced kisses, human steaks, and a chorus of thugged-out monks.

Saymoukda Vongsay’s play marks an important precedent for Lao American horror theater and is one of the first Lao American plays to be performed in Minnesota in over 20 years. She’s worked very hard on this for nearly half a decade. Hopefully the Lao community will be one of many who get behind this and make it a play to remember.
